Abstract

The current technology for durability qualification of the damper spring tower component of a passenger vehicle is presented. The methodology was based on durability experiments performed on actual components mounted on a vehicle. Stresses acting on the component were experimentally measured by using rosette strain gages. Durability tests were performed over two different public road surfaces. Fatigue damage assessment was performed and the life of the component was estimated.
