Abstract
The mechanical behavior of unsaturated compacted soil affects the security of embankments. The aim of compaction methods in the laboratory is to reproduce the compaction effect induced by on-site equipment. This paper summarizes all the results obtained on kneading compaction in order to define a compaction procedure that simulates the action of compacting machines in the field.
