Tensile Fatigue Behavior of a Coated Two-Dimensional Carbon-Carbon Composite Laminate Roy AK (Received 0 0; accepted 0 0) Abstract The room-temperature tensile static and fatigue properties of a coated two-dimensional carbon-carbon composite laminate are reported. The cross-ply laminate is made of 8HS balanced weave of T300 heat treated carbon fibers with a CVI densified inhibited carbon matrix. The fatigue properties are obtained for four different stress levels. The in-plane stiffness and strength degradation due to fatigue and fatigue life are obtained at these four stress levels. The effect of the fatigue loading on the matrix properties is determined by measuring the interlaminar tensile strength for two different fatigue stress levels. The coating interface tensile strength degradation due to the fatigue loading is also reported. Keywords: carbon-carbon, fatigue life, strength degradation ASTM International is a member of CrossRef.
